  7. QDCat will produce the html/javascript files for a website product catalogue, 
  8. allowing the listing and calculation of orders including delivery costs and
  9. tax. It also produces an order form which can be printed, or utilise CGI
  10. to email the details or hook into a custom system.
  11.  
  12. The resulting output uses frames to split the screen into two or three areas - 
  13. index, item, and optionally the order. Having the third frame is optional when 
  14. creating the html catalogue.
  15.  
  16. It can also be used to create an indexed information system for a web site, 
  17. being able to convert text files into indexed html 'pages'.

  19. The program runs on Windows 3.1/95/NT, and the resulting catalogues have been 
  20. tested on Internet Explorer 3.02 and above, and Netscape Navigator version 3 and 
  21. above.

  23. The best way to see what the program can do is to install it by running
  24. install.exe. Then start QDCat and produce a catalogue from the example. This 
  25. is set up when you start QDCat.

  41. in Windows 3.1x or using the Run option in the Start menu of Windows 95.

  62. There are a number of sub directories created during installation. These are
  63.  
  64. example  - contains files for creating the example catalogues
  65. standard - image, midi files that come with QDCat
  66. output   - the default output directory for files created by QDCat

  71. llatsni.exe - uninstall program, must be removed manually after uninstall 
  72.               of QDCat

  80. The demo version limits the number of items to 15, and includes the text 
  81. "created using QDCat trial version" in a lot of places. Also, the number
  82. of choices from any item's selection drop down list is limited to 3. And 
  83. you can't use the weight of an item in the delivery cost calculations.

  107. --------
  108. The installation on NT sometimes fails. To overcome this, bring up Task 
  109. Manager and delete the NTVDM process with an associated install.
